Flashing a branded Desire to an Unbranded ROM.

Hi,

Ive read lots of guides and threads on here and elseware, and for the life of me i cant get any strait answers, nor work out how to do it, and its starting to annoy me now.

Im after a very clear, concise, detailed & no steps missing because something is asumed, guide to reflashing my new Desire to get rid of the Orange ROM.

I 'think' ive managed to create a gold card, ive installed HTC Sync, but no matter what i try, i cannot for the life of me get the thing to either 'root' or flash to a generic ROM!

I keep getting 'USB connection errors' in the RUU apps.

Now, i asume the process is roughly:

Make a gold card, keep it in the phone, boot phone with goldcard.

Run RUU app. follow steps.

Done.

However it just aint working.

Any ideas everyone?

What are the exact errors coming up when running the RUU? Which RUU are you trying to run? The guides don't miss anything out as it's normally user error causing it to fail

some things have changed lately (fake flash instead of pushfiles via usb & pc, new roms etc. ), but the basics are there.

Also, I would recommend titanium backup for backing up your apps, phone data and system settings instead of mybackup pro (although both of them are good)
