how do i tell if phone rooted

i was doing the superboot steps looked like everything worked. The photos in directions the screen on phone says rooted i never saw that. I do have superuser permissions but dont know when i got this

Just install an app that requires root like n1 torch or quickboot, they will only run if your phone is rooted.

Indeed, also you have to unlock the bootloader first, this should show as a (unlocked) padlock symbol under the nexus animation when you bootup the phone.
