As there are many roms to choose from i do not know which one to pick

can someone direct me to what currently is the best rom.

i was also wondering if i should update from 1.5 now or should i wait until 2.1 is released by T-mobile UK because i read somewhere on this forum that the 2.1 which was released by Hungary was a beta

is this correct?

No, it is not a beta.

Regarding stability and usability I recommend Oscillum

i agree, if you meant to type oscillation. it's said by some to be the fastest of the custom roms available. my pulse came with the 2.1 hungarian rom by default - the main issue with that rom is that you cannot install apps to the microsd card, which was a huge nuisance to me. so, yesterday, i put oscillation r7b on my pulse, with apps2sd. it's faster than the 2.1 t-mobile hungarian rom, and has apps2sd, so it's a win-win for me. you may be waiting a while for t-mobile uk to release 2,1, so if you're impatient, then i'd personally suggest you go for oscillation r7b :)

Although Huawei may not present it as such, their 2.1 update is no better than a beta. It's riddled with bugs and crashes, and generally has poor performance. If any other company tried the same thing they would be shot down pretty damn quickly.

I switched from Oscillation to FLB due to issues with the market.

I suspect that it's exactly that, a beta, even being released with test keys. I suspect there may have been a missunderstanding on tmobile hu's side in that they have been sent the update to test themselves by another wing of tmobile and instead released it to the public by mistake. I look it as a sneak look at what will be coming later. I am running the 2.1 plus Oscillation rom and have no issues though before I switched to oscillation it kept running out of space. hopefully fixed now. The only other thing I can think of is that VPN doesn't work but I get the impression it's the same for other handsets too.

is the MDC 1.7 rom the most stable and fastest? im not too fussed about Android 2.1 unless it is stable, having too many problems with it freezing up

I've just installed the one of the quicker 2.1 ROMS and am happily surprised and the speed and stability. It seems to be as stable as I had MCR 1.7, and feels a bit quicker - at least there are less of the little 'hangs' i would experience on 1.7. The added benefits of 2.1 make it well worthwhile for me.
