Dell Streak or Samsung I9000

Hi, there.

I really love these two devices, and love Dell Streak a little more. But I must choose one. Please answer these questions and give me some suggests.

1. I doubt the comprehensive performance of QSD8250 in Dell streak comparing to c110 in Samsung. I9000 is great at playing videos(can play flv, divx and 720p with no hitch) and 3D games(almost 56fps in what I forget the name). And I think the hardware of I9000 is a little better with Bluetooth 3.0 and super amoled. Does Streak play movies and game well?

2. I love the 5-inch screen and appearance of Dell streak, and dual flash. Whats the performance of Dell screen in the sun?

3. Could Streak edit word, excel, ppt? or use some 3-part software?

4. How about battery life of Streak as a phone.

5. I know from the testing video I9000 is really fast. How about Dell Streak when opens some programs?

6. Could Streak take a 720p video? I9000 could take a 720p 30fps video.

7. Will Dell get update in time? I mean Dell said it will get update to 2.2(one saying is 2.1 in September), is tbis ture or just for selling Streak?

1) Movies play well, but doesnt support all the formats. Game performance is ok so far, but keep in mind they aren't optimized for the streak yet.

2) Better than the AMOLED, but not as good as some.

3) Not sure... I think there are some 3rd party programs that support basic editing. Both phones should be the same though.

4) Battery life is on par with or better than my iPhone 3GS so far.

5) Its fine... but should be much better with a 2.x update.

6) Not yet... but its something that could possibly be added.

7) Nobody knows. The official update is supposed to come this year sometime (2.1 or 2.2) but custom roms should have 2.1 or 2.2 out relatively soon (still no eta though).

Basically, just get whatever phone you like more.

After using the streak for over a week I think it could really do with some 2.x love and I'm not too comfortable with the very vague update dates floating around. I might give it back and see what develops as a spectator.

also wat is the maximum (frames per second) for the games (both 2d and 3d)??

i would go for the I9000 but the no flash and the incident of them not updating their earlier phone just puts me off.

The disadvantage in the streak is only the Android 1.6. If it gets froyo it will be the best tablet/phone in the market.

also if i buy an unlocked streak from the dell website ( the US version wich is estimated to arrive next month or so) will i be able to get OTA updates?

if i root will i be able to get OTA updates??

Yeah you will be able to get OTA updates in both cases, but I think it gets rid of the root.

i think there are apps like GLBenchmark, NenaMark1 and NeoCore which find tht out.

Neocore ran @ 28.2 FPS, not sure what the other programs are or where to get them and I don't feel like doing a google search for them atm.
