Not sure if this is possible, but i will give a good donation for anyone who can make the Streak home screen work in portrait mode...this is the only thing which I don't like about it.

I understand it is supposed to be a tablet 1st, but still would be nice to have it used in portrait mode.

I understand there are a number of launchers which will sit over the dell home screen that will allow portrait mode.

I haven't tried any yet so cant vouch for any in particular.

Was interested in helix launcher, but can't seem to locate it on market place or elsewhere.

Would be interested in a link if anyone knows where to source it.

Yeah, there are home screen replacements on the market. Home++, Zeam, Helix (You want the donut version) and many more.

What a coincedence! This is an.oying me so much that i was going to post a project on rentacoder.com and pay for someone to do this. I cant believe that i have a £399 phone that i have to turn into landscape mode to view my home screen and then turn it back into portrait once finished in the home screen.

Jt is absolute stupidity. now i just force myself to hold it in portrait mode even when the phone is in landscape

The thing is, with these launcbers. they look silly and the icons are all spacede out because its not designed for the dells big screen.

The dells home screen icons and layout is perfect except that they like to force buyers to use the handset the way dell WANTS it to be used. Even after paying £399 FOR a phone you are forced to use a phone in a way you dont want to use it.

Dell is turning into apple.

It's like being forced to use portrait on a normal phone, unforgivable!

Hi all,

Well it appears i may be in the minority here but i have completely the opposite problem with a couple of apps that don't work in Landscape although it is only a minor annoyance IMO but i use my Streak 99.9% of the time in Landscape mode can't see the point of Portrait use for anything but as a Phone.

Is it really a problem? Really?? Besides Sense on HTCs doesnt rotate either. The big screen of the dell is not an excuse for the icon spacing on home replacements. Its 800x480 like many other Androids and they dont have a problem. Its most likely an issue with drivers or Android 1.6.

What?!

If you don't like the Dell Streak home screen, don't use it.

Use Better Cut or something else.

Dell would be "turning into Apple" if they didnt let you use anything else, but many people have used other "home screen" software to enhance their experience.
