Greetings fellow Modaco'ans

Recently rooted my telstra branded Desire with 1.21405.2 CL174215

All running sweetly although only have read access on most folders

- ie /data or /system

Certain programs have requested SU permission to which i've allowed (wifi tether for eg), so i don't believe it to be a rooting issue, however that being said i can't modify the bootimage :)

Tried the backup/rename of /system/media/bootimage using astro and estrongs (root explorer force closes on me for some reason..) and no joy readonly access

Wondering if anyone could throw some ideas my way?

Cheers in advance

EDIT: Just flashed with Paul's custom rom and VOILA

Damn is there anything this Paul guy can't do??

Paul, Ever been to Australia / Perth? if not Beers on me mate

EDIT 2 - Doh spoke too soon - beers still stand though :)

Hi there,

The systems data folders are protected, so no matter what you try you will not be able to modify these files.

There are instructions in the forum to change the boot image.

Thanks

Andy

I've copied bootimage.zip to /data/local using root explorer and it worked. There is no reason to change anything in /system I think.

This is probably parto of SPL or similar, so unless there is no hacked SPL for desire nothing can be done. Correct me if I'm wrong.
