I have got a big question.

the froyo port works with the modified 1.6 kernel.

so why arent we able to take this 1.6 kernel and put it together with an eclair rom?

so we would have an very fast eclair by overclocking;)

so plaese many many ideas and answers:P XD

Overclocking isn't giving a real performance improvement to our ROMs and it's easier to cook a ROM with the boot.img provided by official (leaked) bins than building up a custom one. I believe that this is the main reason.

The only real improvement by using disc0's kernel are for 3G tethering but that could be accomplished by using proxoid or PDANet.

No, it isnt.. - its Donut..

..When you use disco´s kernel for Eclair, you need to start work again from the beginning as on Froyo..so Eclair with no wifi, no camera, less RAM, etc + many, many hours of work :)( Am I right? :)

nop disco is donut

You should be able to use PHH's kernel with Eclair.

But its pointless atm, because we hope to get Eclair kernel source in next month/two months, so its probably less time than working on PHHs kernel to work fully on Eclair.

ok i will try pphs kernels but i dont think they will work :)

Technically, it has to work. You may face troubles while trying to get WiFi + other loadable modules working due to bad configuration (primarly mismatching) files.

It is not just like flashing pph boot.imgs on Eclair and making it working, you have to build new boot.img - appropriate modifications of ramdisk and maybe some kernel changes (kernel changes are necessary for fully working :) because with pph kernel and radio from eclair version of roms usb is not working and radio is not working and so on).

first good answer :) XD okay and now can someone explain me how to do this ?

If you don't even know how to edit a ramdisk, then you shouldn't be trying at all. Leave it to the people who know what they are going... Are you running a *nix machine ? Do you have the proper scripts to unpack the boot.img? Do you even know what a ramdisk is? Do you know how to compile kernels?

Sorry to be pessimistic, but you won't achieve anything at all without the basics.

Just flashing phh's boot.img will not work for éclair, and if you wanted it to work, you'd have lots of work to do...

Just my 2c.
