Hide task bar

Is there a way to hide the task bar? At least in landscape mode?

yeah, if you wite application with: "this.menu = null;" this will hide soft buttons, if that's what you mean..

but you cannot do it everywhere, if that's what you mean..

Sorry, guess i was not clear., Is there a way to hide the top bar - the one that displays 'Start', indicators such as battery, speaker, signal etc., is there a way to hide this in landscape mode, I'm just trying to get more realestate while sending SMS or using any other applications.
