There is out there a How-to create your own rom?

Well.. I think the title is self explanatory..

I couldn't find anyone out there.. I'm interested in doing my own (or at least customize a little bit more one of the great works out there).

For example, if I get an existing one and want to change , let's say, the contacts app.. it's just a matter of changing the apk in the zip and flashing the "custom one" ?..

Probably now I just want to change things like that, maybe in a week or so I'll end up making something more elaborated, if I get the time to..
