Absolute newbie but already updated to 2.1 hungary

Hi fellas im an absolute newbie to android, but recently got hold the pulse on the tmobile deal. Firstly just want to say hi i look forward to receiving all your help lol.

Where do i start? I updated it to 2.1 using the guide on here, but didnt make a backup of the stock rom is that a problem? 2.1 looks to be running fine but i would love some pointers as to what to do now, ive seen some of the home screens you guys have and i would love the desire look on my pulse.

Also i had a bit of trouble installing copilot which the pulse came with, is this down to only having 40mb memory after the update? whats even stranger is the phone is reporting i only have 14mb free right now, when i have only installed the fancy weather widget and google maps!

First, read the pinned topics and some more then install a custom rom with A2SD+.

If you are willing to learn then what you need to do is

First install custom reboot image (search forum)

this will then allow you to partion your hardrive

then you will want to install oscillation rom,

The desire look can be achieved by getting "fancy widget"

and downloading "launcher Pro"

if you wan't specific answers to qustions I can go into more detail

First you should apply a custom recovery image (amon-ra recovery) ;)

Lets say its like a backup system for your computer.

Yon can boot into it, make backups of your files and the OS, install other OSs and format the SD Card ;)

It also lets you do a nadroid backup (you'll adore this function, believe me) which makes a full system backup if something goes wrong.

i'll be sure to look at those things, also while im here i want to ask if theres anything i can do about time it takes to wake up? by that i mean when the display is off and you press menu and you have the option to unlock or mute, why does it take a second or 2 to wake?

and also i paired this up with my bluetooth headset, but when my phone rings my headset only beeps in my ear and the handset itself rings, can this be changed?

Get a programme called advanced task Killer. Some on here will tell you that you don't need a task killer but I have been running without it for two weeks and i have reached the limit the phone was just getting slow, put it back on today much better makes it generally run faster... for me?

im not sure its a process thing you know, you can set the time for screen timeout and even when you press the power button on the side its quick to timeout, but screen time on so to speak is not as quick?

I don't think you are really going to have a great improvement, someone will correct me if I am wrong but the phone is just slooooooow at waking from idle, even when receiving a phone call sometimes i have to wait a few seconds. They only way to solve this would be to stop it becoming idle. but that would drain the battery a lot.... what can you do?

i see, i'll be sure to keep my eye on this, i had an iphone before and the sleep button worked like a charm for on or off so this is something i'll try n get used to!

oh theres something else also, i ported my o2 number across to tmob and the phone is still reporting the original number any ideas?!

Depending on how you store the phone (in the pouch) there is an app called no lock it stops it from locking it comes out of sleep in about half the time I reccon but the problem is its not locked but its not like its easy to dial someone anyway worth a shot?

How do you mean? Are you running with the 6 home screens? You can't without downloading something like launcherpro which is a homereplacement (its on the market) and you can pick with a minimum of 3

i only want 3 home screens, with main one with clock being in the middle, slide to the left once a few shortcuts, slide to the right once a few shortcuts. Atm i seem to be able to scroll to the right through 4 blank screens its winding me up!

anyone else know how to get rid of blank homescreens? im also having lots of trouble installing this dam copilot on the 2.1 keeps saying application not installed why???

Another question. Can someone tell me why when someones ringing, the phone vibrates first, then quietly rings, then rings at the set volume? Thanks
