hi,

I am sure this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find the related topic. I wanted to install apps2sd after rooting, used this tutorial here, but it didn't really work, in fact it usb bricked the phone, and took a while to get it work again.

thanks

Wow, that tutorial is ancient...I suggest you update to a current MoDaCo prebaked rom (sticky threat: 27-may-r3-1-modaco-custom-rom-for-htc-desire-with-online-kitchen) with a2sd+ and post your results if your still stuck. ;)

I use bootloader 0.8 and have apps2sd. Using pre baked MCR3.1.

So it is possible.

thanks a lot, it works well now. just wondering how apps2sd decides where to put the application. is there a way to control which one goes to the card and which one stays on the phone?

Yes: /data/app is a symlink to /system/sd/app which is on the sd cards ext2/3 partition. this is where your normal installed. Some apps are installed in /system/app which is on the phone, these are apps already in the rom, or apps you moved there. To do that you need to remount /system as RW, or even to go to recovery mode and mount /system.

normally /system is mounted RO, so you cannot write to it, and cannot install programs there.

(I found that Quickoffice was not working in Pauls r3.1 rom; but after moving the apk file to /system/app it is working OK)

thanks a lot Persko. can you elaborate on how this could be done? I don't really know how to access the command prompt in recovery mode in order to mount /system
