Guest Arthur_Daily Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 ive read a few people reporting that the streaks battery cover keeps popping open, causing the device to power off. i see from photos it can 'sense' if the cover is removed giving only a few seconds to replace it before it powers down. not a big problem if its in your hand, but if this happens in your pocket you may not even know its happened for hours. i read one dude was so p155ed off with the cover being so loose and it coming off, hes returned his streak to o2. my local o2 dosent have a dummy streak or a live device i can play with so i got no proof of this. any of you streak owners out there experiencing this?
Guest courtlandre Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 My back cover fits on pretty tightly and the first couple days it was coming off when I had it in the slip case and in my pocket. Problem was I wasn't putting it on tight enough. It hasn't come off on its own for over a week now.
Guest TheMathMan Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 I didnt realise how hard it is to get the back on properly... a lot of effort to get it to click in properly. It is 100% secure and is going nowhere!!
Guest rovex Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Yeah i had this ,but really you just need to very firmly push it home. It shouldn't happen then. If it does it may be just a bad match of parts, contact dell and ask for a repair or replacement backplate.
Guest Dogmann55 Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 (edited) Hi all, As above had this problem when i first had mine and got worried as i read about it but then realised all you really need to do is make sure it slides as far to the right as it can and then as the others have said once you do that it's rock solid and stays in place user error is a wonderful thing. Guest Arthur_Daily Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 cool, so it appears that most if not all of these reports are in fact new users not replacing the cover properly. that figures really, as im sure dell woulda noticed some obvious fault like this. thanks guys, i think my panic is over ;)
Guest AndyCr15 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Look at 2:10 - The first time I put the back on, it's not hard... I don't know how people have had trouble with it.
Guest Dogmann55 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 @AndyCr15 Your right it isn't hard just hadn't realised it needed to be pushed as far as it would go to the right was all once i realsied that it hasn't been a problem since. Marc

Typically with electronics a rule of thumb is that you dont need much pressure to get things secure. The dell streak battery cover (at least on mine) is an exception to this rule. I have to really push down to get it secure.

I remember watching on a vid that the prototype didnt have that little catch to secure the pin on the back cover. now theres a better catch to make it hold but to do it the cover needs to be pushed up all the way to make it secure else it will just slide down when being held. most hold it and expect to grip it like a psp but we are only holding onto the back cover so it makes it easy to come off if not fastened properly. to see this easer your right hand fingers will press against the back cover but your forefinger can drag the cover to the right so if loose you can slide it over the speaker. at first i thought it was a bad design but since i know to make sure it is held securely ive never had this happen after that. now to remove the back cover i can use 3 fingers against the back cover to drag it down to open but holding it as normal 1 forefinger doesnt make it slide open easily. you'll notice when its not clear of the speaker properly as it makes it sound crap! Guest m4tt24 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I've not had a single problem with the back cover, infact it takes a little pressure to take it off if i need to.
Guest beachbuoy4uk Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Guys, I had the same awful problem but then I thought there must be something sticking up somewhere inside the back of the device. Sure enough there are two little sticky black pads about one millimetre thick. Just pull them off and the back will stay on with no problem!
