Ext problem.

Finally managed to partition my SD card without the trackpad. Apps2SD is working however when i try a Nandroid backup it fails to mount the ext partition and therefore cannot wipe the partition.

Thing is all my apps are working and definitely not on phone memory. It's not a major problem but i would like to be able to backup my EXT.

Any ideas?

If your ext partition is EXT3 formatted, use Koush's ROM Manager from the Market, download ClockworkMOD recovery directly from the app, then select "Backup current ROM" and tada, you have a whole ROM backup, sd-ext partition included ;)

If your parition is EXT2 type, upgrade it to EXT3 via ahmgsk's or Paul's recovery, you won't lose your data.

EDIT: Your trackpad is broken? Well in that case I'm afraid you'll have no luck even with ClockworkMOD :(

Ahh is that why my ext can't be mounted? because it's ext2? That's what i tried with ClockworkMod through RM. Is it possible to mount my ext2 partition and upgrade it through my pc? I tried upgrade_fs throught the android sdk but it said not found.

Am i doing something wrong. I CD to the folder containing the recovery (whilst i am in recovery) and i type "adb-windows shell". I can mount my SD card using "parted /dev/block/mmcblk0". I issue "quit" then type "upgrade_fs" but it says "upgrade_fs not found". Upgrade_fs doesn't work within parted.

I must be doing something wrong but it's getting boring now ;)

Ok i think the problem is the 2 recovery methods (pauls and amghsk mod) both do not contain an upgrade_fs file. I guess that's kind of needed. Any ideas?

Finally figured it out after stumbling through on my own. I'm shocked this community was not able to help me.

I ran amskghs recovery, then in a cmd window cd'd to amsghks recovery folder.

Ran "adb shell fs". This unmounted all partitions including sd card.

I then ran "adb shell sdparted -ufs ext3" but it hung on a confirmation window.

I started again but this time ran "adb shell sdparted -s -ufs ext3" and it upgraded my ext partition without asking me to confirm.

I now have ext3 for my a2sd and hopefully rom manager can back up my ext partition. Which makes me a lot closer to getting around my trackpad problems.

It would help loads if someone could just implement power button to confirm within recovery then i wouldn't have to stumble through lol.
