Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm French (and new here !), so excuse me for my bad english ;)

I have the Nexus One since w few weeks and this forum helped me to root it and to update to Froyo.

So my "about" screen in the phone shows these information :

- Version d'Android = 2.2

- Version de bande de base = 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7

- Version du noyan = 2.6.32.9-27220-g328f560

- Numéro de Build = FRF50

As geek as I can be, I like to update my Roms as soon as there is new ones ;o)

But, after a few weeks without watching this forum, I'm back and I see lot of threads talking about Roms...but I'm not able to compare my actual version with those on the forum :

- 15/Jun r17 - MoDaCo Custom ROM for Nexus One with Online Kitchen - FRF50 Froyo

- 27/May Alpha r22.1 - MoDaCo Custom ROM Desire Port with Online Kitchen (final Alpha)

and also other ones found on AndroidSPIN :

- RoDrIgUeZsTyLe @ FroYo MCR R17 v2.1, Release v2.1 (here)

- Kang-o-rama - CM-5.0.8-T5/720p 0.8b2, Release 0.8b2 (here)

- Leo`s FroYo v0.4.0, Release 0.4.0 (here)

- Cyanogen Mod 5.0.8-N1-test5 (here)

So...there is a lot of choice...and I really don't know what to chose :(

On of these ROM is DESIRE port...I've never tried Sence yet : should I ?

I'm now running on Froyo : what ROM can give me some new feature on my Nexus ?

Thank you for your help or your advices ;o)

You are already on froyo, so i would personally not bother going back to anything based on 2.1. So that only really leaves you the mcr r17 and its derivitives.

From my limited experience all the roms you stated here are all based on the mcr r17 just with different things included. (themes apps etc)

So i would get yourself a prebake version of the mcr r17 and then go from there.

Thanks for your answer !

Just one more question : do I have to wipe before flashing with the MCR r17 ? Am I going to lose every app installed or will it be considered as a simple update ?

The thing is : i don't even know what version of the ROM I have ;)

Is the rom you have rooted. ( it must be rooted to do the following )

Download rom manager from market. Use it to see if you what recovery you have and to make a current nandroid backup of your rom. Use titanium backup to do backup of all programs and data as well.

I always wipe before a flash, but as long as you have a nandroid backup you could try it with out.

Yes my N1 is rooted. But I can't perform a Titanium Backup because it requires to have busybox installed and I didn't know how to install it (enven with XDA's indications and tutorials ! lol ;)).

So I started with unlocking the bootloader of my nexus using this thread : http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...your-nexus-one/

Then, I installed RA-nexus Recovery Image, using this tutorial :

http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...recovery-image/

And finally updated to Froyo using this thread :

http://android.modaco.com/content-page/309...0/#entry1297505

Here's where I am !

So, can I just flash using the recovery I already have, on the file : r17-update-nexusone-modacocustomcustomrom-withadditions-a2sd-signed ??

If I wipe, I'll lose everything : configurations and applications...

If I do not perform a wipe, will it work ??

On titanium problem, click problems at bootm and it will take you thru installing busybox.

the rom you have selected includes the old style apps2sd so would require you to have you sd card partioioned correctly.

I cant say wether it would boot without a wipe. As long as you do a nandriod backup from recovery you should be ok.

If you titanium backup, then you can wipe and restore all info.

hope that helps

It will probably !

I'll test all that tonight ;)

Thanks again.

I'll just plug Cyanogen. It's got the best custom stuff, and I couldn't settle for vanilla Froyo. I'm waiting with Cyanogen until they release their 2.2 mod ;)
