Hi I am new and need help HTC Desire and Java

New to the forum and trying to find my way round.

I have a HTC Desire that I want to access work stuff on. The work stuff needs Java support to run. How can I get Java on th phone, is it possible? Please put answers in simple form as am not that techie minded.
