Wifi not working - 'Unable to scan for networks'

So I got my Desire today, rooted it and flashed Modaco's Custom ROM on it (not the froyo port). Everything is working fine, but wifi does not seem to be working. When turning it on I get a 'Unable to scan for networks' notification a couple of times before wifi disables itself automatically.

I've tried reflashing a couple of other radios, but that didn't solve the problem. I'm on 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2 right now.

Any help?

Bump as I now have the exact same issue.

Brand new Desire working fine on stock ROM. Flashed MoDaCo r3.1 on to it and now wifi says "Unable to scan for networks" twice before disabling.

Anyone solved this? I haven't changed my radio.

FW: 2.1-update1

Baseband: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2

Any luck with this issue?

Same problem on a N1 with Froyo FRF91. Baseband: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7

Heh. My phone developed this fault after sending it in to HTC to fix something entirely different. Mines stock, so going back to HTC again, but while I was searching for solutions I did find this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...&styleid=15

so you might want to try deleting or renaming /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Same story here. Except I got a different phone back from HTC.

Thanks for the link. I may just send this back to HTC as well.

Oh dear, that's not too good on HTC's part. I figured my issue was a one off! I can't believe they're putting broken software on their phones at the repair centres :(

Awesome! This is the solution.

For others with this problem: you don't seem to be able browse the /data directory (using Astro, for instance), but you can use a local or remote terminal to do the rename.

I thought I should let anyone reading this know...

I had the same issue, WiFi turning itself off and "unable to scan for networks". As my phone was not rooted, I couldn't fix it myself.

However, the newest version of Unrevoked (3.0+) can root your phone and allowed me to fix the issue without any hard resetting!
