Guest peterx666 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Just seen my first problem with Android 1.6 Liquid Phone Had just gone into Google mail App and the phone came up with a message saying the battery had dropped to 15% can't think why not used it much this morning, but have been on Utube a bit The message had 2 options OK and Why - neither of these worked Pressed the shutdown switch but could not press the screen as it came up behind the error message Put the charger in but it made no difference After it had shut down to charge pressed power switch again and it came up with the usual press menu to unlock but the screen is frozen and none of the buttons work? The only thing I can think of is to take out the battery......... unless someone has any other ideas or has come across it before ????? ;)
Guest peterx666 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 another thing I have just noted is that the battery icon in the status bar has a question mark in it and for some reason it has muted the phone for that icon is showing??? ;)
Guest fischschneehase Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Take out the battery anything else will not work...
Guest peterx666 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Take out the battery anything else will not work... Yes have done that and it started up OK Would still like to know why it happened - not very good if you are out somewhere Incidentally when restarted sound still locked - and the battery showed 30% not 15% as shown in the error message Interesting??? ;)
Guest dennerjw Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Having the exact same problem... with my Rogers Liquid E running 2.1. It doesnt seem to matter where the battery is, because it locked up at 75% one time. Only way to fix is to remove the battery. Really frustrating.

Fist time I have had any problem tho Would like to know the cause................... Pete ;)
Guest Quipeace Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) The only thing I can think about is a bad battery. The battery percentage is calculated off the battery voltage, when you're stressing the battery the voltage will drop a little. A bad battery will most likely have a smaller capacity than intended, lets say these batteries got a discharge rate of 2C (made up value), at a small capacity that might not be enough to power the phone, the voltage drops and the phone thinks it's got 15% left. That would also explain why you seem to have 30% instead of 15%. (2*1400mAh/1000=0.28A, 2*900mAh/1000=0.18A) I suppose you could test it by pushing the phone to it's limits, download a GPS application and let it run at full speed, that should drain the battery quite quickly. Usually I have the battery on charge most of the time when I am not using the phone outside the house Leave it on charge overnight it does not seem to overheat... must have a cut out in there or something..... when it is charging it does seem to get a bit warm .... but not excessive Not had the phone long so the battery should not be shot? Pete
