Noob question, but I've huffed and puffed but I can't get it to work

I've used the options in Malez's recovery

-Created a partition

-Then installed the ROM

-Then move apps to SD in other menu

However when i install an app the internal free space decreases.

Could someone please give me a step by step guide.

Big thanks for any help in advance!

Yes thats normal, cause theres still some data getting install into internal storage, if everything from an apk were to be install on to the sd card your phone would crawl =], ofcourse unless your using the new google app2sd method aka froyo app2sd.

That is quite normal because some space is used by the dalvik cache too. If you move the davlik cache too to SD, apps won't use space on /data (except for data). But if you sd is slow, your system will be slow.

What is the reall need : have free space in the fast /data partition and don't use it ? (if you move data/dalvik/data to sd, that is what you do)

See on the official LCR page for more infos

Thanks for the info rafty and malez.

I see what you meen.

I went all out and installed about 20MB of stuff.

Internal space only decreased by 1MB. Therefore it must work ;)

Thanks again

You rom does not support apps2sd.

If you want to continue using this one, restore your apps back to your phone with reco or you won't boot

LCR rom has an advanced support for apps2sd. Be carrefull if you install it : wipe your sd card ext2 partition before installing LCR or you won't boot (because you have stored some files on you sd, lcr will automatically detect it and try to use them). So wipe sdcard:ext2 first

Extact step should be

-1st I partition the SD OR wipe ext parition if existes

-2nd I Install the ROM (all ready had the correct bin)

-3rd I upgraded to to ext3 from ext2 not usefull and a bit slower

-4th I moved every thing back to the phone (don't know why, miss this step?) did nothing if you have nothinf on sd (wiped) but can break you actual system otherwise (if old data are on sd) => No need

-5th I moved apps and davlik to the sd (in a first time you can keep dalvik on phone, and move it later when you will need more space)

Daft question. LCR says in BIG BOLD LETTERS I have to wipe SD to upgrade LCR version. Is it enough to wipe the ext2 partition or everything must die?

back up your FAT32 partition (just in case)

wipe the ext partition

I can't get smart keyboard to work with App2SD, even after wiping dalvik, cache and uninstall/reinstall. So I guess I have to go back to storing apps in flash..

Hmm. According to this keyboard apps should NOT be stored to SD so apparently I should move smart keyboard back to flash. I wonder how to do that exactly..

Oh C**P I can't get smart keyboard back even after restoring apps to phone

Now it would have been useful to make a nandroid 1st.. At least I backed up my apps with titan backup as I was going to upgrade to 1.7 LCR.

Ed: Ahh yes, it's this "long press on textbox" thing again..
