Each android release version has a corresponding dessert code-name: 1.5 cupcake, 1.6 donut, 2.0 and 2.1 eclair, and 2.2 froyo.
Guest Dr Who Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 We just need huawei 2.6.32 ;) I thought it worked with the 2.6.29 kernel?
Guest Speckles Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) im under the impression its a different os cos weve only just recently had android 2.1?2.1 came out in January, it just took until now for us to get something that worked. 2.2 came out this month and it'll probably take another 6 months for us to get something that works, if at all, as it's based on Linux Kernel 2.6.32 [source] Edited June 24, 2010 by Speckles

We are more motivated and more skilled than huawei and will have it done in a couple of months =)

There are some very skilled people here, but Huawei are the people with the full source code. I'm guessing that we don't have the source for all the drivers, and so lets hope we can fudge the .29 drivers to work on .32 Good luck lad, 2.1 is just too unstable so I look forward to your efforts been released. What do you mean by too unstable? Sure, it crashes, but its quite rare, and it's easy to just pop the battery out. Edited June 24, 2010 by Speckles

Sure, it crashes, but its quite rare, and it's easy to just pop the battery out. Its not as stable at 1.7MCR you may think it is infrequent but I have to take the battery out at least 3 times a day at the moment. I mean yea its not too anoying because its only when I am using it a lot but its a shame really as it lets the phone down. I would imagine this is why T-mobile UK haven't released it to be honest with you.
Guest Speckles Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I don't have to do it that often, maybe I just don't use the phone as much as you. It seems that most of the time it crashes when doing something web based. Sometimes it can be annoying (yesterday I was trying to paste the url of a webpage I found into a text message, but it crashed when I selected the address bar), but overall I prefer it than having to go back to Android 1.5. Hopefully in 23 months when my contract expires there will be another cheap android to go for running 3.0 or whatever is available then. Unless of course Apple have taken over the world by then, in which case, I'll probably stick with this one until it falls apart.
