I wish it will help you with solving Desire ROM bugs, since porting 2.1 -> 2.1 should be easier than porting 1.6->2.2 or 2.1->2.2

Haha, don't worry, Desire ROM is and will be tougher than Froyo to port ;) (thanks closed source craps !)
