Possible to repackage custom mods as "official" update?

The USB port on my Pulse is broken so I can't install the recovery ROM. I was wondering if it was possible to repackage the custom packages so that I can put them on the SD card in a dload folder and reboot in update mode? I read BigBear's post about UPDATA but I don't have enough understanding of the subject to work it out.

You can install the Official 2.1 rom without a USB port.. You just need a card reader.

But you can't install any custom roms without it

What do you mean by broken? How do your charge the phone? ;)

Update files have to be "signed" with specific keys. We don't have them / can't crack them at the moment.

ZeBadger is still working on the UPDATA file format, so we can't bake them yet.

But Azurren has a good point. Without a working USB port, how do you charge the phone?

I have two batteries and a desktop charger. I put one battery in the charger while the other is in my phone.

I have already applied the official update but it has a lot of crap on it and fills up fast. It is working better than 1.5 though. The reason I would like a custom is so I can tether via bluetooth.

You can do that with PdaNet and Android 2.1 I think.

Intel Macs only :lol: Well maybe soon when I sell some stuff I will have the money to buy a new laptop. Or buy the logic board for my Intel Mac.
