Guest gusthy Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Of course it depends on one's needs. Currently my "best of" in terms of usability is: - Sweden or Taiwan 1.5 firmware for smooth touch screen - Paul's vanilla 1.7 or 1.8 WITHOUT a2sd - Swapper with default settings (32 mb, 10 for swappiness) - a class 6 sd card This config is fast, smooth, usable, able to multitask.

Can you give me a link for sweden 1.5? Because I'm going back to Paul's MCR also. Why do you not use A2SD? It doesn't give much problems does it? Sh4d0w940

Sh4d0w940 when my pulse went down for low battery with swap and a2sd, the latter made strange things. and the place with 1.5 is enoug for me without a2sd. this new 1.5 roms are on www.huaweidevice.com , any rom released in april will do.

Also can you use Darktremor's a2sd with this? That version repairs it at boot by itself. For the problems, I can live with them. As long as I can rely on my phone to send and recieve sms properly I'm fine. Sh4d0w940

Sh4d0w940 Sure, sms and opera mini was the two most important reasons to revert ;)

Guest Sh4d0w940 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) http://www.tre.se/upload/dload%20U8220.rar Thanks, is it the same as this one?: U8220 V100R001C125B262(Sweden H3G) Because I just installed that and I don't have working touchscreen now ;) *Edit: I just checked it and it's the same. Will try to flash different boot image now, does anyone know if that's the solution? *Edit2: Superboot doesn't work, but extracting the original boot.img with split_updata.pl does. Guest Sh4d0w940 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I used the Taiwan one I flashed that one now, and I don't have a working touchscreen either :S. Are you sure you have an U8220 and didn't change boot img? Sh4d0w940

Sh4d0w940 I installed taiwan ROM, then Amon ra, then MCR vanilla and works. That rom was released around a week before hungarian 2.1, so i had a stable 2.1 with that and our beta 2.1 roms too. their only problem was that without time machine i didnt have warranty. But if I remember well, previously I even used taiwan rom itself too. this screen thing occurs when flashing 8230 roms, hmmm.

Sh4d0w940 It's basicly the same, the one I posted has a Swedish language pack and 3 has messed with it (some apps are not visible in market and stuff). The other one that you posted isn't as tampered with, but I'm not sure with one of the roms will give you a more sensitive touchscreen. Edited June 26, 2010 by Guest
Guest il_cholo Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 to get 1.7 or 1.8 MCR is mandatory to be a "vip" or there is somewhere to get it?
Guest gusthy Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 to get 1.7 or 1.8 MCR is mandatory to be a "vip" or there is somewhere to get it? for 1.7 no, you can download it from here.
Guest gusthy Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 hmmmm. instead of adding backing swap, I increased compcache size to 64 megs. it seems to work. May it cause problems?
Guest il_cholo Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I applied 1.7MCR (update-pulse-1.7-core-signed.zip) to my 1.5 8220-6 but my touchscreen won´t work, maybe there is a workaround for it, so far I see that 3G is enabled and GSM gets service, but I cannot move forward from welcome screen without touch
