Android 2.1 - now what?!

OK, so I've installed the MCR 4 Android 2.1 ROM, and my Hero now looks a lot more slick and more responsive, but other than that, is there anything else that I should be excited about? I can't see a 1.5-2.1 comparison anywhere, so any suggestions on what the serious 'wow' factors are in 2.1?

More apps are compatible with 2.1. It's all a little faster. There are loads of little bugfixes, like headset bugs which are especially annoying on 1.5. It doesn't take so long to ‘press and hold’ on 2.1. The market is much better than 1.5.

Indeed, a lot faster than 1.5. Things are finally responsive. Root it, use AutoKiller to further improve performance.

Am I to understand that you're actually running the official 2.1 from HTC? Europe?

The Youtube app in 2.1 is night and day from the 1.5 one, in terms of quality and speed

Overall speed though, modaco 3.2 is much much faster for me, its more sluggish in 2.1 and seems to eat more battery but I'm sure paul will fix it by the time the final is released

I feel the same, I think mcr 3.2 was more responsive than 2.1, but alot of ppl here are saying 2.1 is faster, I just do not understand. Maybe they are comparing stock 1.5 vs 2.1.

for me r4b3 WIP is a little bit faster than mcr3.2. it sucked battery really quick until i did this. now it's the same as with mcr3.2.

Faster at what? I find boot times to be similar. Apps seem to load a little slower in 2.1. Overall, 2.1 feels smoother and more refined.

No! this isn't the European release, this ROM is based on the Taiwanese released 2.1 ROM.

I think we just went gaga over the eclair. I really don't see much difference to be honest.

Maybe the menu is just a little categorized with little icons and a little bit upgrades in maps, market etc which hardly makes a difference. And yeah, bluetooth OBEX.

Apart from that, Eclair surely seems more sluggish than the 1.5.
