Guest dreamer84 Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) Hey guys i hope someone here can help me !!! A few days ago my Samsung Omnia i900 just started getting really hot below the battery at the back and it is draining all the battery from 100% to 0% in about 15min. Its not the battery that is getting hot but the chip in the phone or something.... I tried changing to a new battery and that did not solve the problem. I tried to flash a cooked custom rom and that did not solve the problem. I took the phone apart and everything looked ok. and i dont think that the charger itself is the problem because its the phone that is overheating. Please someone if you got a solution to my problem please help me out... i really dont want to pay for the repair it will cost alot i guess!. Edited June 25, 2010 by dreamer84
Guest chopperthedog Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Does putting the phone into flight mode stop the heating and draining? Also does bluetooth and wifi work properly? good day.
Guest Billus Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 It seems that something is wrong with either the CPU chip or motherboard. The Marvell CPU is meant to downclock itself when it doesn't require the extra horsepower. You could always try XCPUScalar (download the latest from here) and see if that helps. Set it to "Auto".
Guest tomuxzz Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) For me it was the same problem .Very hot was my micro sd card one time i burned my finger when i touched my microsd  .I removed. But chip also was hot so i flahed my omnia and with latest ocks rom - http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ralite-premium/ And now its all ok . :D Edited June 28, 2010 by tomuxzz
Guest kcmtnbiker Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I had the same problem about a year ago. It ended up being a corrupt email stuck in my out-box. The phone was continuously trying to send/synchronize it and it would get very hot and drain the battery quickly. Once I got rid of the email message in the out-box by deleting it, the problem went away. However, I do remember I had some trouble getting rid of the email as it wouldn't let me just delete it. I don't remember the exact steps I took to delete it. Hope this helps.

I did hard reset .And I do incorrect software fix - * Press the 'dial' key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer * With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*# * Select 'Preconfiguration' * Enter code *#81230*# and select OK * Select 'Singapore', with the default Operator * Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET * Run update, and all should be well. .And after this i flashed with latest ock's rom .Thats all I think so .And maby you should try to format your omnia storage memory . Guest rodrigo.cbg Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I'm from Brazil and I've discovered that the chip I've been using has a problem with some ROM's and happned the same that you've described. So, I did the "preconfiguration" thing, but with Ock roms and another ones always happned the same (even if I change the preconfiguration and etc). Then I start to use Pdhee Roms and all things was ok.

Guest urphonesux Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 whenever i had battery drain/hot back of phone on my omnia it was ALWAYS caused by a 24/7 app (a app that runs all of the time in the background)
Guest acrocosm Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) yes most likely it's caused by something you install. Here's what to do... - Remove any sd card you have, if you have. - Make sure you don't have an XDA_UC folder on your external storage so that no apps get auto-installed after flashing. - Flash a proven chef's rom, I'd suggest an ultralite/barebone rom. I quite like PDHEE's 21891 extralite it's one of the most stable roms I've tried. - Hard reset at least once, but you may want to hard reset 2-3 times just to make sure. - DO NOT install anything yourself yet - Test it to see if you have the same issues If you do then you need to visit your local sumsung service If not then install one of your usual apps at a time and test till you find the culprit Good luck Edited July 14, 2010 by acrocosm
