Hello everyone

1st of all congrats for the hard work of the devs/users here that make sure that we get the most out of our liquids. Ive been silently reading this forum even b4 i got my liquid (2 weeks ago) and since im coming from a WinMo device i really im quite lost with the linux/android case. Ive read all the relative how-to posts here including the unlockr links posted here http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...ctional-videos/ but im not really sure about how to do what i want to do. And as known, in cases like this if ur not sure its better to leave the poor phone alone (2 weeks old!). So, if somebody would be kind enough to answer a couple of questions for me, i would greatly appreciate it. Please dont crucify me for this, weve all been noobs few times in our lifes..

a) I want to flash the stock official 2.1 ROM on the phone, the one that ships with LiquidE or seen on Liquids that come back from repair. i believe this should be Acer_LiquidE_1.100.05_EMEA_GEN1. No customs, no leaks. What are the exact steps that i have to do? Should they be the first steps seen one this video http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/16/how-to-ro...he-acer-liquid/ right before mentioning superboot?

:D If i do manage, despite my incompetence, to flash it do i loose my guarantee? (sounds a bit silly but had to ask)

Thanx

Thank you very much on that website

Ximo made an important question for me as well, if I reflash the Liquid, will I void the warranty?

No, as long as your flashing an OEM bin.

how true is this? isn't that Oem bin just a leak and haven't been officially released yet? so I think it still voids the warranty? I'm still waiting for the official release as I am also concerned with losing my warranty. though those custom roms are very very tempting..

Screw warranty, your phone will be okay if you do everything right.

1.100.05 is official....

how can it be official if it was released through forums and not the official acer website? I knw its from acer. and besides July is just a few days away. . : )

That is true. There is always a risk.

I act as if I a family member is in the operating room when flashing a bin (hoping nothing happens to my computer or phone).

But the risk is worth the reward, I can tell you that much. These roms are much lighther/smoother than the stock rom. Plus the added features of different roms make it amazing. Roms like FroYo, LCR (with Dolby Mobile/DiViX)

Since we're on topic, I was wondering: everybody says that, although minimal, there's a certain risk of bricking the phone when flashing. But can I ask why? I mean, the worst case scenario is that the flash fails, but in that case can't you just boot up in recovery mode and re-flash? What is the REAL risk when flashing a rom?

i also want to know this. what would be the scenario where the liquid we be rendered totally unfixable? is this a possibility?

for example while im on the process of flashing the bin or flashing the custom rom and out of bad bad luck, my computer locks up or gets blue screen or loses power, would this be the end of my phone? or it can still be saved?

Thanx for ur answers ppl. Well i couldnt resist multitouch afterall so i got the official 2.1 on the phone last night. Everything went ok, i get stupidly high marks on an3dbench, 5225 points (!) while the Desire stays at 46xx.. (!) On the other hand, lost the super-smooth scrolling on the browser  even though the sensitivity of the screen is much better than 1.6 stock. I suppose that ill have to wait till the LiquidE gets and official 2.2 update (if this ever happens) or about a year for my guarantee to end.. Quite happy with 2.1 (at last) though..
