Looks like they've started to sell the unlocked versions...£449

I wonder if this means that the O2 locked ones will now be unlocked on request now that O2 are no longer exclusive?

Also, just asked what delivery would be - Estimated delivery 13th July. 2 Frickin weeks. Jeez.

I really want a streak but gonna wait a while longer and see if it gets upgraded to 2.1.

Maybe by then the price will have come down a bit...

@ekinlock

It's not getting upgraded to 2.1 it's going to be upgraded to 2.2 OTA by Dell due in September at least that is what has been said i just hope it's early September although everything is running well for me now the things 2.2 will bring along with the greatly improved performance will of course be welcome. I doubt the official price will come down the only place you can get them cheaper is on E-Bay where people are selling their unwanted upgrades.

If you are interested, the product is £429 same as CPW but them there is a delivery charge to take it up to £449.

Is that confirmed? because AFAIK the Streaks that CPW have been selling were locked to O2.

afaik your right, o2 contract = locked, o2 pay-as-u-go = locked

current cpw stock are o2 pay-as-u-go = locked (and more money than the same thing at an o2 store)

BUT

now the unlocked ones are out there, i wonder if cpw will restock now with the unbranded dell-direct models???

Ap[ologies, I did not mean to infer that CPW ones were unlocked, I was comparing unlock to locked ones from CPW.

Don't forget Quidco

10% for the Electronics & Accessories category

7% for all other sales

So should be 10% then hopefully.

I bought my Streak from CPW today , Now I thought I knew what I was talking about with this sort of thing , and assumed that "SIM free" meant a generic handset with no operator firmware and no SIM lock - but as a few have pointed out on here, SIM free means (to CPW at least) that it simply comes without a SIM !! , mine is Locked to o2 and has an o2 Splashscreen ..no big deal as I am using my iPhone SIM with it anyway.

A bit annoying though (I hadn't seen this thread at that point ) ..The second annoyance was that the o2 shop just along the Mall (Westwood Cross , thanet) Told me they are not selling the Streak on PAYG , I pointed out that they were on their site , and that I knew people that have brought them instore on PAYG , but the Girl wouldn't have it !!

It was only that I didn't want to return empty handed that I gave in and paid CPW the £429 , could have come home and ordered one off O2 for £399 , or Truly SIM free from Dell !

Anyway , alls well that ends well , I got it home and love it ! , coming from an iPhone 3GS , an HTC Desire & a Nokia N900 (god awful device) I am really impressed !
