Actually mine didn't pick it up from the SIM. I had to manually set it. That was a bit confusing because the menus were all Cyrillic :)

Did you reboot with the simcard inserted?

After entering the sim unlock code all Will be set to the default language your provider used.

hello all!

and thx Paul for your work :)

I have a big issue when trying to install the update.zip file under recovery...I got a message saying : "E:can't open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory) installation aborted.

I try another SD card but the same. I try a baked rom and also the generic one, always the same issue

Someone have an idea what this can be ?

Thanks

Alex

EDIT SOLUTION : I just notice that the file need to be copy under the internal memory and not on an external drive...so all is fine now

I still can't get my market to show all apps.

Ran the speed up script and then the JF5 script.

Installed Market Enabler, and put in the number given a few pages back.

Still no joy.

Finally tried going to Manage Apps, and then clearing cache and removing update, reboot, still no joy. Any ideas?

Also WaveSecure keeps force closing on me every time i boot the phone up.

@Paul i was wondering if you would be able to create a JIT enabling update zip for our SGS, i know it wouldnt be very stable but i would love to experiment with it but not being to good with linux im sure i will find it much more challenging than it really is. I believe it can be done through just replacing libdvm.so and libnativehelper.so and dalvikvm in the bin directory, i have obtained these files however they are the ones used to enable jit on the Hero but i am under the impression the dalvikvm is the same accross all android therefore replacing it with the JIT enabled version should be sufficient to allow JIT? If anyone can provide me extra info then that would be great :)

How can I change my phone from Russian to English? I flashed the G1 firmware and it doesn't switch to english??

There are 2 CSC files, OXE is the english one, whilst the other is in russian (apparently). This may be the cause

no1 can help me?i keep getting force close error

i need to reflash all over again?

All the force closed errors are probably because the /dbdata partition is almost full. I tried installed Asphalt. Which is a 60mb game. And all of a sudden I got a warning that database storage is almost full. And then the phone went crazy and alot of force close errors started popping up. For some reason the phone is strangely partitioned. The phone has 2GB internal storage. And 1.9GB is for partition /data. But /data/data where all apps are stored is a symbolic link to /datadb/data. And that partition is only 100MB. And 100MB for apps is way to small. So what I did was to open a shell to the phone using ADB. Then I created a temp directory in /data. Copied everything from /datadb/data to the temp directory. Deleted the symbolic /data/data directory. And renamed the temp directory to data. Now I have a /data/data directory 1.9GB size. And no more forced closed errors and warnings that "database storage is low". Now it works like a charm.

So the answer is no you don't need to reflash again. Most likely you will have the same problem again. But instead do what I did. But you need som unix knowledge for that.

I have noticed since moving to jg1 that I am losing the camera. This is the second time its happened. I rebooted my phone today after having using the camera all day.. when it rebooted I went to use the camera and I simply get "camera failed" and it exits. Anyone else seen this?

All i have done is flashed odin and the only script i ran this time was one of the market masquerade fixes..

This is the second time the camera application has failed under jg1 for me...

I am wondering if this firmware is faulty........

update:

the camera works if i launch it straight after a reboot, then any other time it fails.

I have noticed though... if i launch it after a reboot, then turn off the gps option in the camera settings, it will work fine on each launch after the first....

so.... is the gps busted in this firmware, something is definitely fishy and i am sure i saw someone else post about the camera dying also.. so im not alone..

update:

confirmed if gps is on.... the camera fails to launch.. this is inside, perhaps when it cant get a lock...

someone else want to try this on jg1?

update: hmmm cant get into camera at all now, just fails each launch... definitely either something wrong with jg1 or the marketjf5 fix

yeah its definitely connected with having gps on... manage to get gps turned off, never an issue, turn gps on.. and camera fails regularly to launch...

What he did was nothing more then reversing the steps of the lag improvement script. So yeah, the lag should be back. Otherwise there would be a strange thing going on here.

ummmmm isnt that just reversing the lag fix? eg taking the phone back to how its originally partitioned?

Yes, he was just reversing the lag fix :)

I notice no difference in speed. No lag for me. And what is the point in creating a 100MB folder for apps? That's way to small.

And why would move data to /dbdata fix lag?

Read the first post, it really does contain everything you need to know, including where to get the original ROM. If you search the forum, there's also a video demo some kind sole posted to help how to do it.

Are you refering to this:

In order to use this ROM on your device, YOU MUST ALREADY BE RUNNING THE JG1 ROM FROM HERE. Do NOT use this ROM with any other base, unpredictable things will happen, the most likely being you'll have to reflash your device via Odin. JG1 is available on MediaFire Pro or ROMraid

/ CoBlitz - MD5: 11971aa0120335c69a64a46dc6a09a43

Sorry first android phone :)

Ummm where have you been? Try reading the giant thread about stalling in this forum but basically because that 130 MB folder is on much faster NAND so makes the phone a lot faster.

Is is not possible to go back to JF3. That ROM is nowhere to be found.
