Guest Paul Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Note that as r2 is a deodex build, the first boot will take a little while. :) Investigating a Swype issue with r2 (error on first run)... P

P Hmm, Paul, so Swype issue still exist? Because i read the changelog saying that it's fixed. :D I might want to wait everything to be stable before updating. Also. what does deodex means? Guest FerdiBorbon Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) just a quick question is this method for updating ok... 1. flash to JG1 using Odin enabling (re-partition) <-- necessary? 2. load update.zip (MCR R2) before rebooting after odin flash.. or reboot first then go to recovery mode to load update.zip? Guest Archer13 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Ok, success story report :) 1. Update from JFB to JG1 Windows 7 Home Premium, x64 Downloaded JG1 from here (link from samsung-firmware): http://www.multiupload.com/BW9A3F2HH8 Odin parameters: Re-partition: on PIT: s1_odin_20100513.pit PDA: CODE_I9000XWJG1 PHONE: MODEM_I9000XXJG1 CSC: CSC-I9000SERJG1 Windows has installed drivers after the phone connected, Odin did the job. 2. Update to MoDaCo R2 - success. Wavesecure looks working (on JFB it was FC). 3. SMS with Swype: tested - no problem. 4. Titanium Backup. Should tap on "Problems?" to re-download busybox. After this working fine, restoring apps. 5. Lag-fix not installed yet, but it looks no lag for me. Will use my phone without fix for a while to check. Good job, Paul! Thanks! Sorry for my English. Guest insty Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Guys do you need a SD card to do this? Can't put it onto the root of the phone?
Guest NeidRider Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Does "re-partition" in Odin mean, I'll lose all my data on the "internal" SD card? Edited July 6, 2010 by NeidRider
Guest oachim Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Hi guys, First, thanks to Paul for his wonderful work. My phone is running smooth with JFB-MCR (no stall fix applied). Some lag appears when memory is getting full. To avoid this, I'm running AutoKiller with Optimum setting and so far so good. Would somebody underline the differences between JB and JG? Why should we upgrade to R2? Thankfully, Ovidiu Guys do you need a SD card to do this? Can't put it onto the root of the phone?
Guest Xoneso Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Hi Paul. Found a problem in r2 with ASE. When i run MarketSpeedup.sh i get an error with it can't cp /system/ase/resources/vending_preferences.xml as it doesn't exists. There is no folder called ase under system in the zip file i downloaded from the kitchen MarketSpeedup.sh: clear echo echo You must have run Android Market at least once since wipe for this script to work.>/sdcard/temp.sh echo echo Closing Android Market...>>/sdcard/temp.sh echo killall com.android.vending>>/sdcard/temp.sh echo echo Copying preferences file...>>/sdcard/temp.sh echo cp /system/ase/resources/vending_preferences.xml /data/data/com.android.vending/shared_prefs/>>/sdcard/temp.sh echo echo Done, press the 'back' key to exit!>>/sdcard/temp.sh su</sdcard/temp.sh rm /sdcard/temp.sh
Guest Archer13 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Does "re-partition" in Odin mean, I'll lose all my data on the "internal" SD card? No, I did't lose mine. I guess, only system partition is refreshed. For example, my previous lag fix (from JFB) with symlink to /dbdata has disappeared.
Guest Kris_cs1 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Just flashed r2. Seems to be working fine :) Except Titanium backup is force closing when trying to restore apps.
