Trying to get Alternative Keyboards Working

This problem arose whilst using the Modaco 3.0 ROM (Android 2.1) where I was using the HTC keyboard with IME installed and ticked under settings without any problems. I then tried installing the Swype keyboard when the BETA was released, un-ticking HTC IME in the settings, ticking Swype but only the Android keyboard would show. Trying to return back to the HTC keyboard the Android one just stayed and I couldn't do anything to change it.

Today I've flashed Paul's fantastic FroYo r20 ROM with HTC IME but once again only the Android keyboard is accessible, even with IME ticked under the settings. There is no way as far as I can tell to disable the Android keyboard.

If anyone has the same issue fixed and could help, please let me know!

Bring up a text entry box, quickest way to do it is compose an email or text message, long press in box until you get a pop-up box, select input method and select which one you want to use

LOL, I would like to say thank you too. Since installing my froyo rom, I had the exact same issue, stumbled upon this thread and tried the long press and lo and behold, phone keypad and not qwerty. lol.
