Lost camera shutter sound

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I seem to have lost the camera shutter sound on my Nexus One when I take photos. I recently updated to FRF85b, but I'm not sure if I lost the sound before or after updating, as I don't take photos often.

Is there any way to get it back, or does anyone know where the settings are?

Thanks in advance.

Did you try RESTORE TO DEFAULTS in camera option menu?

Where is that menu, please? I simply can't find it anywhere. Thank you.

I hate to ask a daft question... but is your phone on silent?

I just checked mine, and when the phone is on silent there's no camera noise, but then I turn the volume up and there is.

I'd like to know how to remove it completely too.

Get root explorer and have a look in /system/media/audio/ui

There should be a camera_click.ogg and VideoRecord.ogg in there, for camera and camcorder respectively.

If you want to get rid of the sounds just delete them or rename to something else. (I just put a . in front of the names and it works good.)

Click the right/top most icon (the one that looks like a gear or a dial or something) and scroll to the bottom.

for older version (back in the January), delete them or rename them will cause camera app crash on shot, so I always use a silent.ogg to replace them
