Guest steetiehj Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 apologies if this has already been answered but I'm very keen to install SetCPU (purchased) to try and get more out of my battery... I'm new to this ROM stuff so please bare with me.... I've got my ROM running now, how do I go about applying the new kernal? do I simple do the same as if I was flashing a new ROM and this just changes the kernal of the ROM? If I use my goldcard to flash the kernal and have the SetCPU.txt on that; once I've done the flash and reboot the phone can I put my other SD card in the phone that doesn't contain the txt file? Many Thanks in advance guys...

Many Thanks in advance guys... Just flash the update.zip with the OC kernel and you're ready to go. The kernel will handle the CPU speed by itself, if you want to use profiles you need SetCPU, and SetCPU needs the .txt file on the SD card. Without the file it won't support overclocking, only the supported speeds. (Not 100% sure though)

I have Fake Flash installed; when I use this I flash the ROMS I want with update from zip on SD disc.... do I just use the to flash or will it wipe of my ROM already? ta
Guest Jagdish Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 if you want to overclock your processor you gonna have to use setcpu... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682419 this thread contains information and changelogs of the various kernels by Richardtrip, just download your compatible version (according to your rom), download Setcpu and setcpu.txt, flash the kernel via Recovery, toss both setcpu.apk and setcpu.txt on your SD card, install the apk via Astro (or any other apk tool) and when opening the program choose Show other frequency sets>Custom frequencies, make sure setcpu sets to be ondemand and set on boot and youre good to go...
