Guest R_A_V Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Hi all. I tried to go back to 1.5 from FLB-Mod as described here http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...se-owners-guide On the step 7 while uploading December update to phone it unexpectedly disconnected and never connects again. I extracted a SD-card, put Dec. update manually and completed procedure. Now I have: 1. Official 1.5 running ok 2. Device not connecting to a computer via USB and not charging when it is on 3. Device charging normally when it is off Questions: 1. Maybe anyone had the same problem and solved it somehow? 2. Is where any way to install AmonRA recovery without USB cable? I can root my phone and put anything to it via wifi. Thanks everyone for answers!

Guest whackster Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 No it's not drivers... because it's not charging even with charger that comes with phone. In that case, try a new cable, if that doesn't work you probably have physically broken your phones usb connector. Try searching here, there was a topic for broken usb, it might hold a solution.

I switch off my phone, insert USB cable it vibrates once, indicator of charging appears and it's really charging! I've read topic about broken USB and it seems my problem a bit differs... I think it's something wrong with firmware and phone doesn't recognize that USB cable inserted. I already tried to wipe all, factory reset, time machine one more time, update to 2.1 again - useless... Edited July 4, 2010 by R_A_V
Guest twrock Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) I already tried to wipe all, factory reset, time machine one more time, update to 2.1 again - useless... If it charges normally while off, it seems this is not a "physical" problem with the USB port. But I would have suggested you do exactly what you did. However, you might want to try once more to time machine, then original 1.5 ROM (not 2.1). Also, can you fastboot? (volume down + end) Will the USB connect while in fastboot mode? Guest Azurren Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Seems very strange to brick your USB port.. Wiping all may help but may also leave you with an unusable phone  If all else fails at least you can hand it into tmobile for repairs :D
Guest R_A_V Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) twrock No, fastboot doesn't work. I can't install custom recovery and restore my nandroid backup... Azurren Unfortunately where is no tmobile in Russia... I've got it on ebay  Here is the video of this issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM_vzMx5QNw. Official 2.1 at this moment. Btw, one more weird thing - phone doesn't boot up while USB plugged in: Could wiping battery stats with AmonRA cause this? Edited July 4, 2010 by R_A_V

I'd still suggest to try a different cable, and re-flashing the dec update again, try if it works without superboot or amon-ra. Even try connecting it to a different pc, if that fails too, its probably a hardware defect

Btw, one more weird thing - phone doesn't boot up while USB plugged in: Could wiping battery stats with AmonRA cause this? Ouch, that looks bad. So, just to be sure, you can still boot into fastboot mode, just not do anything with the USB port while in fastboot mode, right? Definitely try what whackster just said about a different cable and another computer and going back to the December update or some other "original 1.5" ROM. (Do the time machine first.) If nothing suggested here works, I think you are going to have to flash the original ROM back onto it, and send it in for repair (hopefully you can send it in for repair). (Oh, and I am assuming you've pulled the battery many times, and that made no difference.) Sorry, but I can't think of anything else either. Edit: Incidentally, having had fought through some of my own mess with a failed update/downgrade, I know that sometimes you have to keep going back to the beginning before you finally get something to work successfully. I didn't have this problem, but I did have multiple failed update attempts that caused me to fear that I had bricked my phone. Eventually, it worked. But your situation is definitely different than mine. Good luck. Edited July 4, 2010 by twrock
Guest R_A_V Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks to all for support. I tried a different cable (from Nokia, 100% sure cable is good), fastboot doesn't work (just like phone is not connected) and of course I tried another computer... I discharged battery completely and charged it again, pulled it many times - no effect. twrock Could you please describe how can I send it for repair? We don't have t-mobile in Russia. Does t-mobile allow repairs from another countries?

Does t-mobile allow repairs from another countries? I'm very sorry, but I don't know how you will do that. I only just realized that there is no support for that phone in Russia. Since you do not have a contract with a local carrier, maybe the only way is to contact Huawei to see if they do repairs. But I am just guessing. I don't know how it is done. I actually do not have a T-Mo Pulse. My phone is a Huawei u8220 that is branded by a local carrier as the CHT8000. One final suggestion that you might have already tried. Did you try installing some other 1.5 updata after the "time machine" (i.e. not the TMo December update, but some other Huawei ROM)? Oh, another one. Are you flashing the "updates" (updata files) with the battery in or out? Try doing this differently. And another. Are you booting the phone and then updating from the menus, or are you pushing "volume up + end" while booting? Try doing this differently. Try all combinations of the above. I'm just grasping at straws at this point, trying to think of anything that might result differently for you. Sorry, but I don't think I can offer much hope.
