FroYo released for GSM & CDMA Hero!

Sort of, LoX has ported a version of CyanogenMod 6 (Android 2.2 / FroYo based) to the GSM hero. It's alpha so if you don't know what you're doing and aren't confident messing about with adb/fastboot etc then don't touch it.

In other news, HTC have released the 2.1 kernel source for the Hero so improved custom kernels will no doubt be forthcoming to make 2.1 and the 2.2 ports even better.

There will NEVER be an official HTC released 2.2 for the Hero, so if you need FroYo, then keep an eye on this man.

Yep, I was impressed when I tested it yesterday. It looks like cyanogen is porting the 2.2 from Nexus One.

If it's true that 2.2 is coming out for the Desire in a week or so, then maybe Paul can port it over to the Hero, then we'll have Sense as well!

HTC spokesperson opens their mouth and the words two weeks comes out, they probably said the same for the update of 1.5, 1.6. Several months late they release 2.1.
