Guest hazi1964 Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) I was looking to flash a rom and using rom manager, downloaded the above, however, now I have lost my wifi, unable to start wifi is all I get. Having had so much trouble with the rooting process and now this, all I want is to get the phone back to it's original state. Is this at all possible? I originally started with hboot 0.75 but it's now 0.80 (can't remember exactly when that happened). Since the hboot became 0.80, I was unable to install ota updates and still can't. I installed rom manager and tried a few roms, didn't like them so restored my back up and phone was fine until I installed the BASE Kernel v6 (stupid mistake). Since then, the phone works but I have no wifi. I wonder, is it possible, with the phone in it's current state to get rid of everything and start from scratch, ie, no root, no generic rom, back to previous Kernel version (no idea what that was). I am quite happy now not to have root and to just stick with installing the apps on the phone and not to the sd card so if anybody can help me out here, I would very much appreciate it. I think I would need to return to hboot .75 in order to be able to install a generic rom now, I have the page open with the guide but am not understanding the following: 1. Download a RUU with your desired HBOOT version. Note down the version of the RUU's ROM, e.g. 1.15.405.4. You can find a list of RUU's here DONE 2. Go to this mtd0.img CID generator DONE 3. In the CID generator enter the ROM version you noted down and set CID to 11111111. Let it generate and download it. DONE 4. Download flash_image binary from here and then do the following in adb while the phone is connected: What does adb mean? Thank you in advance. Alison Edited July 5, 2010 by hazi1964
Guest IEFtm Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 That would be a ShadowFrost kernel. What ROM are you trying to use this on? That kernel is only meant for Froyo ROMs. Even so, it should work on anything Froyo, basically. It doesn't really help if you omit all the important information to solve your problem.

Sorry, what important information do you need? The rom is 1.15.405.4 and hboot 80. I actually thought I was downloading a rom not a kernel. That's where I have gone wrong.
