Guest nickbw Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 Android 2.1 based MoDaCo Custom ROM for the GSM HTC Hero with update hero radio 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 signed recovery immage RA - hero - v1.6.2img I have been happily using MCR 3.2 ROM with above radio until last week, when I finally took the plunge and tried 2.1. First I tried r5 2.1 but, perhaps because it includes the radio upgrade it did not work for me, so I tried r4 and this worked OK. I had the boot loop but removing the SD card sorted that. Can someone answer the following points please? Nandroid - I have this folder on the SD card and it is called HT9BKL904582 it contains the following:- BCDEMRS - 20100601-2338 BCDEMRS - 20100322-2037 BCDEMRS - 201000607-2354 BDS - 20100702 - 2202 BDS - 20100703 - 1205 BCDMRS - 198800611 - 1139 BCDMRS - 20100602 - 0001 BDS - 20100701 - 2159 BDS - 20100703 - 1146 Can anyone explain how the backups are labled and in what order they are stored? What is the difference between BCDEMRS and BDS? What is the number following - it would seem to be date; year, followed by month, followed by day, so is last group of numbers time in 24 clock? I can download apps from the market. I have installed quite a few including Titanium but when I reboot phone these no longer show in apps list - why? Is it anything to do with having had aps2sd in MCR 3.2 and not having aps2sd now? Finally, I originally formatted the 4GB SD card with asmall swap partition, ext3 partition and the remainder Fat32. Whet I conected phone to Ubuntu 10.04 it showed up in file system as two partitions. Since installing 2.1 one of the partitions has disappeared, how, why? Please help a nube!
Guest sambartle Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) No idea about the nandroid naming but yeah the 4 digits at the end seem to be the time in 24hr format.. (the start of most of mine are BDES) I'm guessing you didn't wipe when you upgraded, and that Apps2SD is still sort of working.. its copying the apps to the sd but not reading them back properly.. so they get blackholed to the card. It might just work (they might just come back) if you install an Apps2SD version of MCR r4 The first time i connected my phone to my linux laptop it mounted both partitions despite me choosing charge only on the phone popup.. now if i choose disk drive as you say i only get the one.. which is weird. I've just tried it as charge only.. and it does mount.. but only one partition now shows. I think the phone must actually modify the data it sends about itself to hide the other partition and not just mount as normal mass storage. Edited July 5, 2010 by sambartle
