What should LCR be

Well, thanks to our hard working devs, we have a great rom in the form of LCR 1.7, and I think it has almost all the features that a normal user can ask for. It's really great to use, but it degrades some of its own impression due the small things like minor lags when scrolling contacts, messages or when opening gallery, or other things like running live wallpapers makes the phone SLOW!...

So, IMO the next version (or patch) of LCR should try and focus just on improving the performance, polishing the code, and eliminating the bugs and the error, so that we can have a truly smooth rom. I think that LCR has reached a stage where it should try to get more mature before including new features. A shift of base to version 1.100.15 could also be made so that the devs have a cleaner base to work with.

These are just my two cents.. but would really appreciate if the devs and the users gave it a thought.. Whats ure opinion people??

Well i think that u all work towards producing a high quality rom, no question about that.. im just saying that lcr 1.7 had a lot of critics, who had one or the other problem with it.. it works well for me... rarely any crashes... but im just saying that the focus should be improving on existing features rather adding new ones.. now i dont know if thats whats ure current roadmap is, its just my suggestion as a big fan of ure rom!!! Dont take it in the wrong way!!!

And how about to remove Stream UI and useless added apps to make clear, fast and big storage LCR ROM...

..When I was cooking ROMs for my old Portegé G900, I was making FULL and LITE versions, people can choose better version for their requirements...

Hey, now I know where I remember you from :-)

@all

Thanks for your suggestions, we will try to make LCR as good as possible :)

I second that ... I'm using phh's 1 Ghz kernel (yes I know it's not possible for everybody) and it's absolutely perfect. (btw I LOVE ramzswap and I think it makes the rom much better. I'm having 15 more Mbs than I had before.)

The only problem I noticed in this rom was the stream UI (it's not smooth enough for me). I think there should be a script to remove all the stuff related to this rom (except divx readability :))

As Vache said, for the moment we are focusing on fixing issues. No new feature is planned, except an excellent application that allow to easily configure the user interface (big thanks to reppad who develop it and provide us)

Next version will be provided as a full rom and as a patch (upgrade from any 1.7 without data wipe)

Glad you mentioned that! Was going to start on a similar application tomorrow :).

maybe the members of LCR can build us a rom or port of cyanogen mod - iff phh can port desire and frf50 to liquid then cyanogen mod should be possible (at least to create a port) This is what I desire as anything based off the acer roms will never be as complete as one built from source

I don't use Stream UI but those features are amazing.

You guys should uninstall the Notifications and Home apps, then your system would run much faster.

What are the apks for notification and lock screen exactly name from stream ? I can unistall them without any problem ? (I'll never run them obviously...)

LCR 1.7p1, for me it's almost perfect, very rarely reboots (1 every 2-3 days), and all system it's very smooth and fast.

I enjoy the dolby (from stream), ok with the "new audio" patch for the volume with in-call (a little more would be perfect...)

I don't understand all those people that says that LCR has bug or something... I think they brick their systems with some apps/config/scripts/deleting.../etc... I really don't understand.

I suggest to don't change the stream integration (only 4 dolby :)) , and to all, to set all with full android system, and use the LauncherPro; the system, in this set it's perfect.

I think it was just Notification.apk I got rid of. It should be in /system (make sure with a file explorer first), use adb to get rid of it ( http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...d/#entry1203728 )

Not 100% sure about the Stream lockscreen. Don't think I got rid of it (got rid of a few other things like AcerLauncher.apk, MusicA.apk, Widget.apk, MoreLocale.apk)

But yeah once you get rid of that Notification.apk, it will run smoother (assuming you run full Android UI)

@malez and other devs...

Seems like we're gonna have one great rom soon...

Also, i think its a great idea to port cm6... all the benefits of froyo + cyanogen's work... the best of both worlds... What do the devs think???

I agree with Rajit. I tried LCR 1.7 but i gone back immediately to 1.6: for me is more stable, mature and polished.

Reboots? I use LCR 1.6, and i have never seen a reboot. And i work with Liquid all the day... :)

I'm using 1.7.1 and I never had any reboot, nor FC.

My 10cents worth, LCR 1.7 seems to be better than some others I've tried albeit on the HTC platform. Agree with Rajit and others with fixing bugs and making it run smooth. Don't really understand between stream UI and the rest...

But;

Begin Warning Controversial bit !!

The boot screen and splash screen seems real cheesy and cheap which reduces the impact of the great product... sorry needed to say that!

End Controversial

What do you think?

I have to agree there, something more minimalistic would be nice.

I have an idea.

Maybe make a way such that we get a notification everytime a new version or patch for LCR is available on the bugtracker page.

The easiest way to go about this would be to add an optional mailing list and send an e-mail to LCR users on the list after a new update (that way we get a new e-mail notification, check it out, find out there is a new update available and go straight to the site to download it).
