Guest Deadstar Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Hello, Galaxy S have 512mb of ram fisicaly on board , but somewhere i read it still use only 256mb of it, some else say it use 341mb, or also someone say it use all the 512mb but it only display half of it in the OS.. Can you explayn what is the true! :) I think that if it really is using half of ram and already have this performance expecially in 3d, it will really shine with froyo compiler and full ram use! Tankyou! :D
Guest pekkala89 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 I read somewhere that old .29 kernel does not support more than 256Mb of ram. Newer .32 kernel supports full 512Mb

I'm sure I read that this is the case and if the source code is made available it can eventually be tweaked to vary the RAM available to the different areas of the system.

This is just me thinking, but maybe the graphics chip has some of that memory allocated? and the device as of now only have 256? I'm not sure at all about this.. just putting it out there.
