Guest Dr Who Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Weird, tried to connect to Enterprise secured wireless network (EduROAM) and was asked to provide a password for storing these credentials. I assumed this was like a keyring in linux so input a password which caused the force close mentioned above, after which clicking on this network also caused the force close. After restarting when selecting the network I would get asked to input my password for storing credentials at which point the force close would happen again. I was then looking at editing the wpa_supplicant.conf file as specified in these two posts http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...prise-on-pulse/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574260 which I changed but this didn't do anything (not sure whether this is relevant on 2.1 - the file was empty other than a header anyway?). Anyhoo ended up adding the network manually and configuring the info and it now connects with no errors.

We have in school a WPA2 Personal PEAP protected network with a proxy, and my settings app just force closes like your one does. I had this problem with the HU ROM also. I think editing the wpa_supplicant.conf should normally work. To save time, just login to this network with a Ubuntu machine and just copy the configuration. Best regards, BigBear
Guest Dr Who Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Have you tried to add wifi network, enter the SSID manually and select enterprise encryption? This brings up manual configuration of all the appropriate wireless settings (although notice you have to scroll down - I didn't the first time!). I just entered all these details (leaving both certificate entries on default) and the connection then automatically started. Until that point if I tried to click on the network it would force close and until I had entered ALL the configuration details I could see both the broadcasting network and my defined network (not in range) in the wireless list. EDIT - Nice to see you visiting us back in Pulse Land. Edited July 6, 2010 by Dr Who
Guest Simon O Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Have any of you two checked the logs whilst the settings app crashes? I'd like to know exactly what the issue is so it can be fixed if possible.

I have a 1GB data plan so I don't really take care of that problem :) Have you tried to add wifi network, enter the SSID manually and select enterprise encryption? The problem is that our network is even hard to configure on a normal PC, so its nearly impossible on a phone :D
