Can't get 2.1 update on Goldcarded & Unbranded Tmobile G2

I'm very confused. I've spent the evening Googling and looking around all the Android forums I could come across but I still can't find an answer. I'm trying to get 2.1 on my phone.

I own a Tmobile G2 which I goldcarded last night using Klutsh's gooldcard tool. This was relatively problem free.

I then went on to download the 2.73.405.66 update and get that working on my phone. It is now unbranded and working perfectly. However, I can't for the life of me get the update message to appear to upgrade to 2.1.

I've tried the usual tricks of putting the date forward by all manner of increments but nothing has happened. I've rebooted the phone. I've tried it connected to WiFi and just on 3G but nothing I do seems to trigger the update.

I tried going onto the HTC website and downloading their official update but obviously my serial number is for a Tmobile G2 so it wouldn't let me download it from there.

Am I missing something?
