Acer Liquid with Purple shade in half screen

I am using my Liquid for taking pictures. Just recently I noticed when I switch to video (or barcode or other camera apps), half of the screen is purple/blue. But when I switch to the taking pictures (am using camera included in LCR 1.), everything is fine. I don't know if this is a hardware problem as it is fine when taking pictures. But videos had the problem.

I am using the 10.005 bin and LCR 1.7 ROM.

Anyone had this problem?

I tried restoring my nandroid backup from fresh 10.005 bin. I also tried flashing xian's latest ROM but made matters worst. The cam and camcorder had the problem. Barcoder has it also.

I could be due to the 10.005 bin? I cannot confirm yet as I am in work now. I'll flash the donut bin later and see if still evident. If it is, then this could be a malfunction (previously it was not like this.. though I did not test the video when I flashed 10.005 bin). Will have to bring to Acer if this still occur in donut.

In the meantime, anyone who had encountered this and resolve it? (I am still convincing myself that this is a software issue and not hardware)

yeah.. it did not work in donut..

very odd though.. if it is hardware, the purple glitch should be evident in all apps.. but it is working fine in camera app for stream.. and it is also odd that only 2 of us encounter this..

i've seen similar problem with Desire.. but that is confirmed and known hardware problem. But in Liquid.. I still have 7 months warranty.. maybe i'll bring it to Acer..

anyway, is the warranty void if we flash it with a different ROM? coz i flash it with EMEA ROM.. i am in Singapore.. I a suitable SGP ROM bin. (i found one though.. but Rapidshare is crap!)

I just brought my liquid to Acer (flashing donut, though it is EMEA). I just waited for, maybe, 15mins. Presto, they fixed it. They said it is hardware issue. A sensor is somewhat misaligned. I didn't bother to ask. They did not flash anything as my firmware is still EMEA.

Am actually surprised of donut battery performance. 7 hours of casual use (sms, call, internet) still give me 50% battery.

Yup. Very fast. I dunno if this is a known issue. Usually here in Singapore the fix it on the spot.

Uhh, I have a liquid in the U.S. that has a siimilar problem, the camera is half green, half red....the LCR camera works though, I simply don't know where I'd take it since that phone isn't from here

yup.. it is similar to my case... LCR Camera works... but video camera won't.. my first impression is a software issue.. but when i brought it to acer, they said it is hardware.. lens alignment was the diagnosis..

Take it to your nearest Acer Service center. Just please take note to put back stock bin/ROM before sending it to them. It could void your warranty. Luckily, the Acer staff did not notice that my rom is EMEA though I am in Singapore :( . But to be safe, put back your original BIN.. :(

The thing is, I don't think there are any here. This phone was never sold in the US. Acer only sells netbooks and notebooks here.
