Guest Sylar2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 It seems that my old data plan only works with WAP 2.0 UA The choice of iphone/mozilla 5 UA in the N1 are too limited, so can we add a string for WAP 2.0 UA???
Guest Michael Spencer Jr. Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) I think WAP is a completely different protocol and I'm not sure if the Nexus One stock browser can even handle page data in that form. For what it's worth, you can change the stock Froyo browser's user agent so it identifies as an iPhone or as a Mac desktop computer. I know that's not what you mean, but it might be what people are expecting to find if they click your thread title. To change user agents: 1) Open stock browser 2) In the address bar, type: about:debug and click "go" at the bottom right. Don't select about:debug from the suggestion list if it comes up, type it all out and click "go". Entering that address will appear to have no effect, but it's made a silent change to your setup menu. 3) Press menu button, press More, then scroll down and press Settings. Your settings menu will have some new options now. New options: Show JavaScript Console Single column rendering Use wide viewport Normal rendering Enable tracing Enable light touch Enable nav cache dump Set JS flags UAString 4) Select UAString at the bottom, and then pick your desired user agent. Options are Android, Desktop, or iPhone. (Sorry no WAP.) You may just have to tell your carrier that you have a new phone. For the rest of us: a browser with Flash can render much the same content as an older desktop PC now, so why not have web sites return HTML intended for a desktop? I'm much happier now that web sites don't try to force me onto trimmed-down mobile versions, often with no way to switch back to the full site. Edited July 7, 2010 by Michael Spencer Jr.
Guest Sylar2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) It didnt change a thing :) I am sure Opera Mini 5 can read wap pages but it's using the stock User Agent from the phone. I tried to edit the file ''com.android.browser_preferences.xml'' adding the SonyEricsson C905 UA string but no changes! Perhaps there is another xml I have to edit somewhere Please check my file to see if everything is okcom.android.browser_preferences.xml Edited July 7, 2010 by Sylar2010
Guest Sylar2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 I think my network doesn't accept Linux phones nor iphone because of the ''Access Denied'' I get, when I am using this modified UA xml I don't get this message but I still don't get connection too.
