how can l play remote video files?

You can set up LAN sharing on the estrong file manager, that's what I use and it works well. I don't know if it will play videos over wifi though.

The answer is no,using es file manager you can copy del etc. But you can't play video,it said these format donot support stream, I tried mp4 wmv and divx, none of them worked.

Files are NOT streams! You MUST download file before you can play its contents.

surely there's a player that can stream videos straight off our pc's though, i shouldnt have to copy stuff to my phone to do that, whats the point in that????

this would allow me to watch little videos anywhere in the house :D and it's such a basic networking concept, i cannot believe these "modern" phones don't even support it :P

You can't, actually. In Windows, SMB shares (Windows shares) can be easily accessed by all apps just like local files, so VLC can make random reads to any position in file and thinks of it as a local file. Android does NOT support SMB out of the box, so built-in player can't read remote file.

VLC also has an ability to read "broken" files, but it will warn you and seeking will be disabled or buggy/unstable/may crash VLC.

Movies are like GIFs - you can't see next frame without downloading it. But no one seeks GIFs and GIFs do not have audio interleaving - this adds complexity. Streaming protocols are created to address these issues, but files are not streams.

I think phhusson's meaning is that running vlc server (something like that) on PC, which stream file and you can play it with stock player as online video in your liquid.

But I think it's too complicated for me, I don't want to do extra steps in my pc before I play some video.

I want to play it because I feel boring, like during smoking or going to toilet. :)
