This is second one i've had , as last one last less than 4hrs. Mine lasted over a day with heavy use, I've heard reports of apps causing too much power drain though so perhaps this is the problem you are having. In particular the Dell installed Facebook app or widget was a particularly power hungry little piece of code from what I hear. Assuming that is the case, it might be worth you uninstalling everything to see how the battery life is and then slowly adding apps until you find out what has caused the problem. Then again it could be a hardware issue but I've not heard anything solid along these lines yet.
Guest ethanhawk Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) Thats what i thought . Facebook and Twitter have been taken off. Tried it with no wifi ,gps best i could get was 6hrs May have to return this one.... Edited July 9, 2010 by ethanhawk
Guest mobiholic Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Also the battery life is supposed to improve after a few days anyway, but it sounds like the problems you are having aren't related to 'bedding in the battery'.

This is second one i've had , as last one last less than 4hrs. I charge my battery overnight and it lasts 7am - 7pm ... I think I use it frequently to check emails etc .. but I am not using 3G .. Don't know that I even have 3G... but I used to turn 3G off on my Nexus because it drank ALL my battery juice in a few hours. Diane
Guest the_didge Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 very strange... mine lasts over 36 hours with light usage. otherwise its about 24 hours... Try this and see if it helps : Go into setting, then About, then Battery Usage. Make a note of whats using how much of the battery. Now draining your battery completely, until you cant even switch on the device, then plug into the mains and let it charge when the device is off. When it reaches full leave it another hour If you have the Custom Recovery image then switch on the device whilst holding both Volume Buttons, Select update from sdcard... Then select Advanced, Then Wipe Battery Stats. restart the device and let it charge for another hour. If you dont then switch on the device normally and leave charging for a further hour.
Guest T_r_i_s Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Can anyone explain why the battery gets used so much when the device is off? Or have I got a fault somewhere? I switched my Streak off last night - as in hold power button on top of unit, then select bottom of three options (power off) to turn it off. When I switched it off it said there was 83% battery remaining. Switched it back on this morning, it said there was 69% battery remaining - how has it used 14% when it's been off? I would understand if I had say left it a week/month etc, but overnight - WTF????
Guest enne91 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I'm using a milestone (european droid) and it's hard to last 8-10 hours. :) The only thing can save u is to switch off data connection with some toggle. I used "apndroid" but now i prefer "extended controls". After this it stay on for 30-36 hours....
Guest ethanhawk Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Thanks for all the replys and advice. Will have to let battery drain then give Didges advice a go... Thanks again
Guest Browell2664 Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I'm running Streak Rooted 4339 build with custom Madaco rom. Downloaded CPU manager (requiring root/superuser), by turning CPU on lowest settings possible, im getting much longer battery run time between charging. i charge it all night, and used to run out by about 3pm. (about 6 hours use) Now i can make it last till about 11pm  Performance is still decent but i just modify CPU demand when nesseccary.
Guest HOkay Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 It sounds like you have a bad battery ethanhawk, unless I watch some vids my battery gives me a good days use. Though admittedly that is with 3G off nearly 100% of the time & Wifi only turned on when I'm using it. Wrt losing 14% overnight, that sounds around the right amount if the phone was on but you clearly told it to turn off fully so...weird. Maybe try checking the battery level, turn it off, take the battery out, leave it overnight & then put it all back together in the morning & seeing what the difference is. Of course you would need to find out how much a boot costs for your battery without the leaving overnight part for comparison. P.S. Just tried mine, 82% down to 81% just turning it off & on again straight away, better than I expected tbh.
Guest Birkenfelder Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Does anyone know, if there is a light on, to see, if the battery charged, when the Streak is off. Maybe with the Home AV? (like at the palm treo)
Guest Cue_32 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I downloaded an app called batteryFu which automatically turns off\on data recovery and night mode settings. My Streak seriously now lasts me over 1.5 days with moderate use. 1 day heavy use including watching videos on the train to work and back.
