hello all....

ive just sucessfully flashed a new froyo rom onto my phone :)

the rom i had before included a rather nice black keyboard... i think it was the 27/May r3.1 prebaked with default modaco additions

what was this black keyboard and where can i get it...?

some clues:

predicted words were highlighted in orange

a little green 'light ' came on to show caps lock was on.

SOLVED HERE! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759009

Some people say this isn't working for them, its worked for me fine!

Ok, after much research, ive discovered it appears to be the standard android keyboard...

Where can i get it???

It seems to have had a lot of slating, but i personally prefer it to all others ive used, especially the 'next' button which moves you onto the next text input box... very useful, cant understand why no other keyboards have this...???

if you still have the old zip file, the keyboard will be in there, an apk file (cant remember exact name of it)

you can extract that then in recovery mount /system and push the file to your phone

LatinIME.apk is the keyboard

the only one i seem to have in the zip is HTC_IME

That's the HTC keyboard, you should also have Clicker.apk in there

I hope not a silly question ... but:

Did you long-press in a text field and see 'Input Method' this gives you the choice of keyboards (if you have more than one installed)?

you might have it already!?

Problem solved.... gone back to the 2.1 rom I had before, found the froyo Roms to be a bit too glitchy for my liking. Had serious signal issues, even with the radio update. and a few crashes... I did like it though so hopefully all the bugs will get ironed out.

That's the HTC keyboard, you should also have Clicker.apk in there

now back on r5 froyo rom... still no android keyboard :(

found clicker.apk in old rom zip, tried to install it, it said its the keyboard calibration tool??? and also failed to install!

I really want this stock android keyboard, i think its the best one out there, and its the only one i've found with a 'next' button (works like a tab key) for moving to the next text input field!
