Buying an acer liquid - how to upgrade to 2.1, root etc

Hi, i have been an active member on the Tmobile pulse forums for some time now and already have knowledge of rooting and updating etc, but i feel that its time for me to upgrade. I have been sifting through topics on this forum and have seen many roms and patches. So i was wondering if anyone could put together a complete guide for me to do the following things...

1. Upgrade to 2.1 whether that me official/ leaked.

2. Root with ADB and SU.

3. I have read somewhere about a fix for 880mhz processer ? < this im very interested in.

4. Finally the "best" custom rom out there.

1. That is done with the so called "acer tool" and a .bin file. you simply hook up the phone via USB, enable debugging and click start :). The acer tool is stickied I believe, and the bins can be found in their leak/release topics.

2. Custom roms pretty much always have root access enabled, if you don't want to flash customs you can flash a custom kernel (like superboot or the overclocked kernels that recently went online)

3. Yes, overclocking is done in the kernel so the developer just has to enable the frequencies. Some of them are packed in update archives like custom roms, but others can be flashed using fastboot.

4. There is no "best" custom rom, everyone got his own preferences. I personally use Xian's latest ROM because he's kept things as clean as possible while still applying useful tweaks. You can do whatever you want with it. the LCR releases are heavily modded and tweaked. version 1.7 has the stream interfaced baked in, but I believe that will be gone with 1.8. Everything is preinstalled so you won't have to do that yourself. I personally don't like that, plus that it's themed as well, but ultimately you have to decide for yourself.
