Hi All,

I've just recieved a brand new HTC Desire on Three '3' but am having real difficulty trying to root it (tried r5 when r6 didn't work and 3 different SD goldcards so far)

Then i noticed that the software version it shipped with is 1.22.771.1 and the r6 root guide states that the software version must be 1.21 or lower - does this mean i can't root my phone and apply a custom rom?

Was really looking forward to an early version of Froyo :)

Thanks in advance . . .

Thanks nerdo!

Yes, bootloader is v0.80.xxx - so I should be able to flash that Rom (i assume no goldcard needed), then root with a goldcard following the r6 rooting guide using the second (0.80) download?

Well first what is your bootloader's version?

If it is 0.80.xxxx which is very likely since nothing else showed up yet

I would try flashing a downgrade to another official ROM and then give the rooting procedure a go!!

You can try this (3 ROM I believe)

RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.20.771.3_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_124822.exe

a GoldCard is required for other WWE ROMs

Good luck

I dont think its working. I tried, it showed that it is not allow to downgrade ROM...

I'm in the same situation as you are. Currently there is no way to root or revert back to an earlier version.

My hope is to wait till Froyo arrives, with Froyo I won't need any rooting since it should contain Hebrew fonts which are absent from the current versions.

I regret choosing the HTC Desire instead of the Nexsus One. With the Nexsus we don't have to wait so long

for every new android version and I don't need the laggy Sense UI anyway.

But I'm sure that it's a matter of time till someone here will find a solution, It's an excellent forum and people here doing great job!

Definately not working for me either :)

Looks like we'll have to wait for someone to work out how to root roms >1.21
