Guest soraxd Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 from what i understand, we need a custom kernel to support higher frequencies to overclock the CPU. is making a custom kernel something hard to do, or is it something we can look forward to soon?
Guest Andrew Luecke Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 from what i understand, we need a custom kernel to support higher frequencies to overclock the CPU. is making a custom kernel something hard to do, or is it something we can look forward to soon? I am unsure about the answer, but what do you expect to gain from doing this? The CPU on the Galaxy S is already very fast (especially the 3D ones). I think the better solution would be to focus resources on getting kernel 2.6.32 working for Samsung S instead, so that the migration to Froyo can begin. JIT is like an instant overclock, and I hope this is the approach which is taken :)
Guest DistortedLoop Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) Someone's posted a custom kernel to address the lagginess issue, so the answer is yes, there's hope for other custom kernels. Also, there's a custom ROM with JIT posted just today: http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-...-v1-mcr2-based/ I haven't tested it, not sure I will, but it sounds tempting.
