Guest AndyCr15 Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Should I take it as Paul has a SGS and there is no FroYo port, there is unlikely to be one in the near future? While trying this over my N1, I'm surprised how much I miss FroYo :)
Guest JuW Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Samsung is going to release Froyo for Galaxy S Korean Version in early august. So I think it wont take long to have it on other countries later.
Guest Darkstriker Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Next to the fact that Samsung is going to release Froyo themselves fairly soon, ports of different android versions take a lot more time than edited firmwares + samsung uses encrypted drivers so its very hard to put different android versions on the phone.

The wifi tether and the Apps2SD are taken care of, is it just the Flash browsing that you miss?

Looks like they have released their source (which includes the drivers too): opensource.samsung.com/mobile/mobile-phone/gt-i9000/ Hopefully it means it will be possible to port the drivers to kernel 2.6.34, and get up and running with Froyo without waiting hopefully :)

No idea what else is needed. Haven't even had a chance to touch the code yet (yesterday, it was downloading at 10kb/s, and died half way). They probably released them ages ago but I didn't notice anyway  Just thought others who didn't know it was out might be interested to see them

'Update all' in the market is quite a big one too. I don't mind too much about flash in the browser, but I prefer to know I can if I need...
