hehehe, now we have eclair, is fantastic and it's all ok.

But... we have some user that reach to take some leaked of Eclair bin...

.. then: LiquidUser (that provides some leakeds and kernel) or someone like him doesn't have some news about froyo?

eheheh, I know, I know, it's not the time, but anyway... I tried :D :)

Maybe Acer even don't have a plan to let the Liquid to get Froyo... :)

Or it just not the right time to talk about this, according to the "record" of Acer update

No problem for the optimizations: our cookers will think about it :)

I am 100% sure Acer is not even planning to make Froyo ROM.

1. They want to sell new phones - not support the old ones

2. Why bother and spend money if people will develop it themselves?

they woould be very helpful if they release all the technical info they have about the Liquids

Rogers already confirmed that the Liquid E will be getting FroYo in Q4 I think.

Acer wants to sell phones, which is why they must support their phones.

1) your sure is wrong :) Rogers already talked about Froyo on his Liquid.

2) yes, people will develop it themselfes but like Eclair Acer has to give some hints... like a base leaker.

LIQUID_USER do you know something about Froyo on Acer Liquid?

So far Acer has been good about updates. Liquid E will very likely get Froyo, whether it'll run flawlessly on A1 is another question, the RAM difference is the only concern.

Acer, I know that you are reading.

Give me the 2.2 ROM now.

I will move on another brand android phone for 3.0.

hell... :)

accept that you bought a cheap phone with an early version of android - there were newer phones on the market when you made that decision :)

Acer will bring out 2.2 - when they bring out a "next gen" handset to compete with the likes of the Galaxy/IP4 in terms of specs etc.

Acer would be smart to give us Froyo updates since it builds brand, which they sorely need in the smartphone market. There are plenty of the cheap no-name manufacturers with low quality android phones. The Liquid has pretty good specs, just needs to update the software, which should be easy for Acer. So it's either give us Froyo without too much work, or lose us as customers in the future. If they choose the former, then I know Acer is a brand I will buy in the future because they support their products until the HW is outdated, not software, which is easily upgradable. Hope they're not like Samsung, that ditched their first generation galaxy owners.

so who with a liquid would buy an E just to get a software update? and then buy a liquid E v2 for gingerbread... i doubt anyone would.

but if they support the liquid, then when google 3.5 does come out, by then liquid E v 5 would be out with dual 1ghz, 1 gb ram etc etc, then original liquid users would buy the new phone.... possible an acer if they have good track record of prompt updates

We'll be able to use it. The 1.100.39 .bin is for the LiquidE so why wouldn't we be able to run a .bin with Froyo? They share the same hardware, and ARE the same device...

Just my 2c.

That bin is for normal Liquid.

Anyway, you're right..i think that it will be only the setup that will say "not compatible", but then we extract the bin and flash with our Acer Tool

Guest xian1243

Even if the .bin isn't compatabile, all we need is a dump and with a few edits/hacks it'll be working fine.

If I remember right the original Liquid has 256 mb ram while the LiquidE has 512 mb ram.....

That's why the original liquid won't receive 2.2 though official channels...

It's not a problem 256 or 512 mb for froyo.

Liquid won't receive 2.2 officially because Acer doesn't want peoples buy now a smartphone that cost 50-100€ less of LiquidE  eheheh
