Guest dhblewis Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I am running 2.2 on my HTC desire. When I go to settings->applications->Manage Applications I have an option to move some apps to SD card but I have already run out of internal memory. Will APP2SD + completely move the app to the SD card or will it leave traces on the phone memory as with the built in?

A2SD and A2SD + will move all your apps to your SD card, and free up alot of space on your internal memory yes. The build in "A2SD" in froyo can only move apps that is designed for it, and it cant move widgets and some other apps without making errors
Guest tinyk Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 i didnt want to start a new topic when its mostly covered here. I get the difference between the two and have obviously opted for the later but in Paul's rom update it says A2SD+ * This option adds an A2SD script to the startup process. This version also moved dalvik-cache to SD. To use A2SD, you should partition your SD card to have a FAT32 partition first, then an EXT3 partition second. Ext4 is NOT supported. If you include this option, do NOT include the A2SD option When I partition which do I make larger the fat32 or the Ext3, im guessing the Fat32 is what is shown in the phone and the apps install on Ext3 is that correct ? (need to know which one to make large for my music and vids) Also what do you use to format, I've never heard of Ext3 or how to make it so. A quick guide would be most appreciated, and sorry to jump on your thread dhblewis but I thought it went with the topic. Regards

Regards in Recovery menu: Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32. Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu. Ext is partition where A2DS stores your apps so 512MB is more than enough. FAT32 is where you store your music, pics etc. (visible when plugged to pc as disc drive)
Guest dhblewis Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I am using the rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7104837 Using the built in APP2SD thing I have already ran out of space. I have only 8-10 apps installed. Is it possible to get the real APP2SD installed on 2.2?
Guest tinyk Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 In recovery mode (vol down, recovery, icon Vol up +pwr) I'm not getting the option to do this, I know I've seen it whilst flashing but could you kindly update me on how to get straight there. Thanks again exactly what I needed.
